ESAM Academy congratulates Prof. Dr. Claudia Stern for receiving two awards from the European Society of Aerospace Medicine during the International Congress of Aerospace Medicine 2026!

The first award is the ESAM Space Award in recognition of Prof. Dr. Stern’s career in aerospace medicine, awarded by the ESAM Space Panel, led by François Bernard.

The second award is the ESAM Chevalier Award in recognition of individuals who have made exceptional and distinguished contributions to the advancement of aviation and space medicine in Europe or internationally. This includes contributions to scientific and research, innovation, professional leadership, international cooperation, and education.

Prof. Dr. Claudia Stern has worked at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Institute of Aerospace Medicine since 1996 and has headed the Department of Clinical Aerospace Medicine since 2014. As a flight surgeon, she looks after European pilots and also astronauts before, during, and after their missions. As a scientist, she conducts scientific research in aerospace medicine.
