The European Society of Aerospace Medicine (ESAM) Academy Advanced Aeromedical Examiners (AME) Course
16 January to 26 February, 2026

We offer an advanced aeromedical examiner course, which fulfills the educational requirements to become a Class 1 (commercial pilot) Aeromedical Examiner (AME). The curriculum includes 47 hours of online lectures plus 23 hours of practical training in Vilnius, hosted by Affidea Lithuania.

Online Lectures (47 hours)

The online theoretical lectures will occur on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays according to the following schedule (CET):

16.01 - 16:00-19:00
17.01 - 09:00-16:00 (1 hour lunch break)
21.01 - 16:00-19:00
23.01 - 16:00-19:00
24.01 - 09:00-16:00 (1 hour lunch break)
28.01 - 16:00-19:00
30.01 - 16:00-19:00
31.01 - 09:00-16:00 (1 hour lunch break)
04.02 - 16:00-19:00
06.02 - 16:00-19:00
07.02 - 09:00-16:00 (1 hour lunch break)
11.02 - 16:00-19:00

Active participation in online lectures is mandatory to receive a course certificate.

Practical Training (23 hours)

The practical training (participation is mandatory) will occur in Vilnius according to the following schedule:

23.02 - 8:00-17:00
24.02 - 8:00-17:00
25.02 - 8:00-17:00
26.02 - 8:00-17:00

The practical training will include class 1 examination training, air traffic control, simulator, and a written examination. Participants are responsible for organizing and funding their own travel and accommodation costs related to the practical training in Vilnius.

Recognition

The course is designed to meet the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) requirements, as stated in the Implementing Regulation EU 2019/27 (including the requirements in the Acceptable Means of Compliance and Guidance Material to Part MED, issue 2, 2019). An application for approval of the course and recognition of the diploma will be submitted to the Chief Medical Officer of the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Article 11.1 of EASA Basic Regulations provide for mutual recognition of AME certification between EASA Member States.

Entry Requirements

Completed medical degree
Completed specialization training
Successful completion of a Basic AME course (certificate/diploma)
Sufficient English language skills to participate in this course

Upon registration, your application will be reviewed. After review is completed, admissions decisions will be communicated to applicants. Admission to the course is granted on a first come, first served basis.

Upon acceptance, a course fee payment invoice will be sent to you in the amount of €2700. Payment must be received within 2 weeks after acceptance notification to confirm your spot in the course. Failure to submit payment will result in forfeiture of your spot to the next person in line.
